Fondant Flowers Tutoral by ginas-cakes Fondant Flowers Tutoral by ginas-cakes
This is the way I make fondant flowers. I read it in a book ages ago....can't find it now, but they turn out ok.
I like this method because you don't need to use any icing sugar as the petals just peel off the clingfilm ok. It also means that you don't have to use anything to stick the petals on, and the entire flower is edible.
I've tried to explain the best I can, but if there is anything that doesn't make sence, or you have problem if you try them out, I'll be happy to explain....:aww:

hi wow this is amazing! i was actually trying to find a tutorial on making roses like this, and coincidentally stumbled across yours! ♥

hope you don't mind me asking a quick question — why did you cover your finger with clingfilm? does it add a particular texture or is it just to avoid fingerprints?

love your stuff, keep up the great work!!

Thankyou ^^

....and it's mainly to do with hygiene, but it also stops the icing sticking to your fingers and peels off the clingfilm on the surface easier.

you are so good! i think you had replied to me somewhere that you make your own fondant? if so do you stick to a recipe? like somewhrer offline? or did you make it yourself?

No, sorry...I don't make my own. To be honest, I've not been brave enough to try it. Plus
I have a shop over the road that sell ready made, so it's quicker and easier.

I have just been looking at how to do roses. I can do mini ones but I was looking for how to do large ones, so two hours later of tutorials telling me I need to buy all sorts of tools I give up :( then I come on here and theres yours and all I need is cling film and icing, perfect easy to follow instructions :) Thank you :D

Your very welcome....:aww:....and I'm glad the instructions are ok to follow..wasn't quite sure..:)

...I'm being sent a tutoral by a fellow da on how to do those roses for wedding cakes etc....they look like hard work, but for wedding cakes I suppose, are worth the effort.
...These don't look too bad, and as you said, all you need is fondant and clingfilm which is usually at hand. I still only have the basic cake makeing equiptment, and compromise alot.

....thanks for faveing by the way...:)

No problem....I'll ask round. I also had a quick look on-line last night and found a couple of recipes. So if I can't find anyone who's made their own, I'll try it myself. It may take a week or so as I've got a couple of cakes to do, but I will get round to doing it...:)

i'm sure i will figure something out, i am thinking of rolling out a line of icing and rolling it up and then try and curve the edges a little, not sure how well it will work out, i got the silver balls today though. Oh i forgot to tell you i got some of that chocolate Philadelphia last week, 1 in ASDA on offer, still haven't used it though, not sure what to make with it yet

Will do.....although he's out on the lash tonight, so it'll be over the weekend. He's got a job in London, so he's saying goodbye to his work buddies.
..It will mean I've got the house to myself all during the week as he's got to stay with his sister......too far to travel from here ever day.

over the weekend if he is not too drunk that is i guess lol!

Oh that's a long time to be away (though if it was my other half it would mean i would get a clean house as he is so messy!) are you considering moving nearer?

....My other half don't do drunk....can't hold his drink very well....:)

A weeks nothing really....He used to be on tour for 6 months at a time in the forces, so 4 nights a week isn't long.
....and I get all the perks of a clean house, my own weekly routine....and get a chance to really miss him..;)
