I took a few more pictures than usual this time, so hope it's still clear enough to see the steps.
This cake is strawberry flavoured sponge with vanilla butter-cream.
All the little balls for the fur effect were hand-made from fondant/sugarpaste and glued together with Royal icing.
The cake measured around 32cm tall form cake board.

This is the most gorgeous Hello Kitty cake I have ever seen! Amazing! Can I ask you.. how big are the cakes you started with? I see a stack of 3 in the firs photo and I'd like to know how big they are.

Hi :).....and thankyou!

....The start of the sponges are around 3-4 inches tall, depending how well they have risen. I mainly use 6 inch tins for the 3D ones, so that might give you a bit of an idea of the size.

Thankyou for your comment ^^

Sorry about that.....it's only easy when it's all done and nothings happened to it.
I hate it up to the stage where I've carved it, and get the first layer of icing on. All sorts can...and do go wrong. After that though, it's just dressing it up.

It's not always the easiest thing to make carved cakes smooth. You do a great job with it.
