Kokeshi Doll cake Colours by ginas-cakes Kokeshi Doll cake Colours by ginas-cakes
I know I've already uploaded this cake, but I thought that all the background colours were nice, so I let the kids chose which one I should put on in the end. It's surprising how different background colour makes........which one would you have chosen?.....and what other colour card do you think I should buy for future photo's?

this is so late D:

i think the black is best for this one because it even out the other colours on the cake C: for example the ble and yellows on the right alters the colours of the red, the yellow makes t look too dark and dirty whist the blue saturates it too much :3 the light blue and purple are also nice but i think the black works best as it really brings out the colours well <3

i think that if you're using bright colours like this, the grey is perfect, for anything else i think the the first one is nice and delicate :D!

...I like yellow, but for some reason it doesn't photograph very well. Perhaps it me, and need to experiment with the camera settings!

Dark grey (3rd one) shows the best colors of the cake. But I like the dark blue one (4th one). I think the background having color adds to the presentation of it.

I use blue alot...I really like it. I think also if I've got a cake with an outside theme,
it seems to be natural to use it. It's the first time I've used a range of colour, and was completely surprised with the results ^^

Thankyou. I nearly didn't bother taking a photo with it...I thought it would look morbid :)

If the lighting had been as bright as the dark grey shoot, I think the yellow one would have been the "perkiest". Definitely the dark grey is the best take, but I like them all, in their own way. I echo =MayEbony though, a mid green or maybe an aqua/ turquoise would contrast the most with the pink and red of the doll.

BTW the doll is adorable!

Thankyou for your opinion. It was a really hard choice. I'm
certainly going to get green now, and some more ranges of blue.

...and thankyou!

I think the black works well, because of the contrast. The pale blue (first one) also looks nice against the red.

The black background I think surprised me the most. I thought it would be the worst colour to use, but was one of the strongest.

I actually like the darker blue one (second one in from the right) - it makes the colors pop so nicely! :)
As for other card colors - maybe white for darker cakes, but it looks like you have a pretty good variety already.

This cake turned out amazing by the way!!! :)

Thankyou...I agree with the darker blue, it makes the red look deep and bright. I keep meaning to get white just to try it out. Some food art looks great with a soft white background.

...and thankyou...:)

Definitely the dark grey. The dark blue is otherwise the best with the pink blossoms, but doesn't set the red off so well. Maybe a mute but sunny yellow and a mid green might be good card purchases for future use?

...it's amazing how different colours set of objects. I initially thought that the lilac or light blue would look the best, but my camera didn't think so. I have a little trusty digital camera with lots of manual functions, but I don't know much about photography, so have it on automatic all the time. I'll certainly get a yellow and green colour next. I've not used green yet.

You're so welcome Gina, I just adore your creations and your ideas. I'm a 'monkey see, monkey do'. I see an item from someone else (not cakes though :faint:) and usually figure out very easily how to make it, and can sometimes do a reasonable job. But to come up with ideas... :(
