Audi Convertable stages by ginas-cakes Audi Convertable stages by ginas-cakes
Here are the pictures I took over the 5 days to make the Audi cake. My son Joshua printed out blueprints to help me get more of an even shape and size. I would never have thought of doing that......I was just about to take a knife to the sponge to hack away by eye, then he suggested it. I did find it difficult to imagine the lines on the print, representing lines and curves on the car, but Josh was very patient with me :)

With so much effort going into the design, I used fablon for the front windscreen and put icing around the edge for the frame. This was the only un edible part of the cake which was easy to remove.

....I thought the process was really stressful at first, but after the icing was on, realised how important it was to have in scale. It made it a lot easier to position headlights etc, so will use the same method again........not too soon I hope though =P

I really want to be a pastry artist. And no need to go out of your way to put op tutorials. I really appreciate it, though! ^_^

Well I won't go out my way, but I will be submitting more tutorials. I get asked a lot of questions and sometimes it's easier to
take photo's rather than explain. :)

I used a laminating pouch :) I didn't know what I could use that was edible.
What is Isomalt? is it something I could have made?

hi there....yes!
Isomalt is substitute sugar.....but it won't be as transparent because it "suffers" from the presents of humidity....it becomes opaque as time goes by....

Ahhhhh.....ok. I should really do some reserch into other ways to create edible items. I only use sugarpaste and can only do so much with that :)

well there are definitely various options but its hard to jump around from  one option to another...i agree...
also each option does require other tools...so that makes it even more dificult.
but even the way you made the car is so beautiful...i guess i wouldn't change it at all

I didn't realise how many tools there were available ^^....don't know what half of them are for, but that must mean
that I don't need them yet :)
.....and thankyou for your complements :aww:......I think I'm a bit too critical when it comes to my work sometimes. I always feel I could have
done a little bit better....
